Roots Of Design Podcast Episode 1

Podcast Episode 1: The Birth of Central Park and Landscape Architecture

This episode of the Roots Of Design podcast tells the story of the birth of Central Park, and in turn, the birth of an entire profession: Landscape Architecture.

Many people think that Central Park is just a preserved open space in the middle of New York City. However, Central Park is actually a completely man-made park, designed by a Landscape Architect – Frederick Law Olmsted. Olmsted is considered by many to be the father of Landscape Architecture, and Central Park is credited as being the birth of the profession. This episode tells the story of the creation of this world-renowned park, and serves to give a brief idea about what the profession of Landscape Architecture is.
